Controversy.
On April 14, 2025, Portable was arrested for not meeting his bail conditions at the Okuara Correctional Center in Lauren, Quir’s capital. On a charge of character libel, the court granted him bail, but he was required to produce two sureties.
The judge decided that Portable should be released on a one million naira bail after he appeared in court on this charge, but only after he produced two sureties in Likesome.
Portable was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for not showing up for a 72-hour police invitation to appear about an alleged assault. Early on Monday, April 3, 2023, Portable was charged at the Ifo High Court in Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command declared Portable wanted on February 18, 2025. In Yaba, Lagos, he turned himself in to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
Portable accuses Poco Lee of music hijacking and theft.
After becoming well-known, he gained the respect of fans of street music. As a young rapper, Portable started to play a lot of shows and make money, but it seemed like the increasing media attention ignited something inside of him. The first incident took place during the Livespot conference on December 17, 2022.
Poco Lee, a Nigerian dancer, was accused by Portable Zazoo of trying to con him out of his hard-earned cash. The Ogun singer claimed that Poco Lee gave him only $600 after stealing all of the approximately $3000 that Wizkid lavished on him on stage.
Additionally, he claimed that his popular song “Zazoo Ze,” which was published on December 14, 2021, was stolen and claimed by Poco Lee. Poco Lee was listed as the song’s owner in the credits, along with Portable and Olamide as featured artists.
In an online video, the hip-hop street rapper gave everything away. His event promoter, Kogbagid, was enraged by his tirade on social media and requested that Portable leave the label’s premises, where he lives.
Kogbagidi said he was ashamed of the incriminating video that went viral online and was unhappy with Portable’s “unruly” behavior.
In a surprising turn of events, Portable Zazoo claimed to be his benefactors and asked for their forgiveness, apologizing to Poco Lee, Olamide, and Kogbagidi for causing so much trouble. The video of the reconciliation went viral right away. But in the controversial situations he would put himself in, Portable was only beginning.
Portable was denied admission into Canada.
Portable was supposed to be a guest musician at a Canadian performance. Morris, a Nigerian MC from Canada, clarified that they decided to fire the performer because of his demeanor. The MC claimed that Portable would no longer be performing in his show because he had fired two managers in less than a year, which was not good.
Morris claimed to have sent a letter to immigration rejecting Portable’s request for a visa. Before their intense dispute, Morris (real name Maurice Imadu) was supposed to arrange the singer’s international appearances.
While performing, Portable gets into altercations. Portable’s boxing series garners attention once more. He reportedly got into a fight with a number of Benin fans during a show in Edo State. In a nightclub, Portable almost got into another altercation with a DJ. The way the DJ handled his song infuriated the musician.
Akpi and Portable Boxing Match.
Portable and Speed Darlinton, also known as Akpi, got into a fight during a boxing tournament earlier this year. When Akpi grew enraged about Portable’s unwillingness to appear on his program for N500,000, their problems started on social media.
Embarrassed by the offer, Portable vented his frustration on social media. After exchanging digital blows, the parties decided to resolve their disagreement in a boxing battle, in which Portable emerged victorious.
Because of Akpi’s animosity toward Burna Boy, it was previously rumored that Burna Boy promised Portable 20 million naira if he defeats Akpi; this was due to Akpi’s bad blood with Burna Boy over the Diddy incident.
Portable Net Worth
Portable has gained significant cash in just two years since entering Nigeria’s mainstream music industry. His revenue comes from sponsorship deals, tours, show appearances, and music streaming royalties. In 2022, Obi Cubana named Portable as the brand ambassador for his alcoholic product, Odogwu Bitters. Portable made a whopping N50 million from that deal.
Only a few months after signing with Odogwu Bitters, Portable was revealed as the brand for Sujimoto, a real estate and construction firm. The transaction with Sujimoto netted Portable N40 million.
Portable’s net worth is believed to be more than $200,000 based on sponsorship deals, show appearances, and other revenue streams.
